What it is

This subsidy gives literary translators time to create a fragment translation, helping to bring Flemish literary work to the attention of publishers or mediators abroad. Translators are considered the best literary ambassadors to approach publishers. Applications are reviewed in three rounds per year. The subsidy is awarded based on the quality and persuasiveness of the application, the quality of the source text being translated, and how well the fragment translation aligns with Literatuur Vlaanderen's international promotion efforts. The organization also aims for diversity in target languages, genres, source texts and translators when evaluating all applications.

Who it is for

Literary translators accredited by Literatuur Vlaanderen and Dutch Letters Fund who translate from Dutch into other languages.

Eligibility unconfirmed. Check the residency and nationality rules on the source before applying.
