What it is

Jury-based cultural production funding for outstanding short films up to 30 minutes in duration, including animation and experimental films. The film must demonstrate significant German cultural imprint, such as German as original language or key personnel (director, producers) having close ties to Germany. For short films, festival distribution counts as equivalent to regular cinema release. Regular cinema release must take place in Germany. All final versions must be produced in an accessible format including subtitles for deaf viewers and audio description for blind viewers.

Who it is for

Short film producers based in Germany or EU/EEA countries with a German business address, who have at least two reference films in at least two of the crafts of writing, directing, or producing.

What you get

Non-repayable grants of up to €40,000 to produce short films, with jury decisions up to twice per year.

What you need to apply

• Application form via FFA service portal
• Two reference films demonstrating experience in at least two of the following crafts: writing, directing, producing. Films must have had or be suitable for commercial cinema, TV, streaming, or festival distribution., 2 required
• Project budget
• Proof of rights ownership to the material
• Documentation of significant German cultural imprint (evidence of German language, residency, nationality, or financial participation)
