Ubah Rumah Residency is an artist studio on Nikoi Island, a private island in Bintan, Indonesia. Derived from the Malay language, Ubah Rumah envisions itself as a 'Home of Change', inspired by the nomadic culture of the Orang Laut of the Riau islands. At the heart of the project is the Living Studio, activated by each resident through bespoke experiences created for island guests.
Individual artists from or based in Southeast Asia whose work engages with the intersection of art, ecology, and hospitality.
Open to artists in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, China and others.
