The central Swiss cantons offer residencies in studio apartments in New York and Berlin, as well as a flexible travel stipend called Atelier Flex. These stipends enable artists to meet and exchange with cultural professionals in other countries. For 2028, artists from Schwyz, Zug and Obwalden can apply for a four-month stay in New York. The Lucerne-Schwyz-Uri consortium offers a four-month residency in the Berlin studio in 2028. Zug canton offers its own Berlin studio residency and the Atelier Flex travel stipend for Zug-based artists. The apartments are suitable for families.
Professional artists in any discipline who have lived in one of the central Swiss cantons (Schwyz, Zug, Obwalden, Lucerne, Uri) for at least two years, or who lived there continuously for at least ten years at an earlier time.
