The 4th Matsu Biennial invites global creators to address Matsu's cultural preservation by translating the Cold War legacy on this island from external perspectives. Artists are encouraged to create proposals that respond to the environment, spark contemporary reflection, and engage the public. Three thematic axes are provided: The Island (Eastern Min culture, religious practices, traditional stone houses, returning generation), The Outpost (site translation, geopolitics, blackout regulations, collective memory), and The Ocean (environmental care, sustainable ecology, sea sparkles, marine debris). Project types include site-specific installations (indoor or outdoor) or participatory creative projects (interdisciplinary actions, immersive experiences, community interactions).
Individual artists, collectives, and organisations worldwide working in visual arts and design.
Open to artists anywhere.
