What it is

The Pollock-Krasner Foundation provides unrestricted grants to exceptional visual artists to support the continued development of their work and enable them to meaningfully pursue their practice. Eligible media includes painting, sculpture, and works on paper including printmaking. Ineligible media include photography (by nomination only), video, film, performance art, graphic or commercial art, illustration, craft, and generative or AI-generated art. Applications are accepted year-round on a rolling basis with no deadline. The review process typically takes 9 to 12 months.

Professional visual artists working primarily in painting, sculpture, or works on paper who have an established exhibition and award history with at least 10 professional exhibitions in the past 10 years.

What you get

Unrestricted grant of up to $50,000 (most grants in the range of $35,000), intended for one year of artistic development.

  • Cover letter describing the specific purpose for funds, amount requested, and how funds will support your artistic career, up to 1 words
  • Current resume or CV including exhibition history, grants, awards, residencies, and other professional activities with dates and locations
  • One-page artist statement describing the 10 images included in your application, up to 1 words
  • 10 digital images of recent work completed within the past 10 years, 10 required
  • Image identification list corresponding exactly to the 10 images, including image number, year completed, title, dimensions, and medium
  • Contact information for three professional references, 3 required
