What it is

Self-directed residencies for artists and collectives who need traditional rehearsal and dance studios. Ideal for solo creators or small to medium-sized ensembles (up to 6 people) working on choreography, playwriting, dramaturgy, development, or interdisciplinary work. The residency provides uninterrupted space to start or advance projects with access to equipped studios but no structured programming or mentorship.

Who it is for

Theatre makers, dancers, choreographers, opera artists, and interdisciplinary collaborators aged 18 and over who are self-directed and can work independently without mentorship or technical support.

What you get

Private rehearsal or dance studio space, single bedroom accommodation, all meals, library access, fitness facilities, and box office discounts for a minimum one-week to maximum two-week residency from April 2027 to March 2028.

  • Resume describing academic, professional, and other relevant artistic experience, 2 required
  • Two-page description of proposed project, including theme and relevance to the program
  • Portfolio with 5–8 recent examples of work (audio, video, images, performance documentation, digital links, scripts, or written materials up to 25 pages; non-English submissions must include English translation sample up to 25 pages)
  • Studio request form selecting from available studio features
  • Selection of 3 possible residency dates within provided date windows
  • Financial Aid section for eligibility for financial assistance
