SOLI Composer Lab Fellows Track — January 2027 Residency and Premiere

What it is

The SOLI Composer Lab brings early-career composers together for a four-month fellowship. Composers draft a new 5–7 minute work for three or four instruments from the ensemble's instrumentation (clarinet in various keys, violin, cello, and piano, with electronics welcome but no prepared piano). Work is submitted by December 1, 2026, receives written faculty feedback in mid-December, and is workshopped and premiered during the four-day in-person Composer Lab residency in San Antonio, January 8–11, 2027. A professional recording is distributed in late February 2027. Fellows mentor high school apprentices and receive direct mentorship from faculty including Scott Ordway and San Antonio-based composers Edna Longoria and Ethan Wickman.

Who it is for

Early-career composers at any stage of their career, of all ages and backgrounds, who are U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or hold a valid work visa.
