Annual stipendium for a writer or artist in the literary field to live and work in Otterndorf, a small North Sea town in Lower Saxony with approximately 7,500 residents, during the summer months. The stipend has been awarded annually since 1985. The recipient is expected to spend at least four of the five months in Otterndorf and participate actively in the cultural life of the city, including providing at least two free public readings. The city welcomes engagement with the local community and literary documentation of impressions, such as blogs or local newspaper contributions.
Writers and authors who have published at least one independent work with a recognized publisher, working in poetry, prose, drama or related literary forms, optionally combined with music, video or photography.
