FotoCreativaBA is launching two simultaneous international artistic residency calls. The Japan Residency, in collaboration with IDEA R LAB in Kurashiki directed by Hiroko Ohtsuki, combines a twelve-month online laboratory (March 2027–February 2028) with one month of in-person residency in Kurashiki during March, April or May 2028. The online phase includes monthly creative and theoretical prompts connecting expanded photography with Japanese aesthetics—Wabi-Sabi, Kintsugi, the interval Ma, the Provoke movement—individual curatorial mentorship with the programme director, and group encounters with invited artists. The in-person phase is designed as a space for exploration based on local context, with experimentation using industrial waste materials and dialogue with the Kurashiki community. The China Residency, in collaboration with OrganHaus, an independent nonprofit organisation based at the Beiyuan Glass Factory in Beibei, Chongqing, combines twelve months of online curatorial training (September 2026–August 2027) with one month of in-person residency in Chongqing, distributed in cohorts of three or four artists across 2027–2028. Both programmes are bilingual (Spanish/English).
