Pius Adesanmi Memorial Award for Excellence in African Writing (2027)

What it is

Biennial prize honoring an outstanding single-authored academic book on Africa and the global African world. The award recognizes books from any academic discipline within African Studies, with particular interest in theoretically, conceptually, and methodologically innovative work demonstrating excellence in African writing and meaningful contribution to the field. Books must be published in English or translated into English from French, Portuguese, or other African languages, published between January 2020 and June 2026. School guides, textbooks, and edited volumes are not eligible.
