Theatre Now, a nonprofit dedicated to new musicals, seeks comic actors who sing for a developmental production of Christmas Eve in Dikanka, an absurdist musical comedy based on a story by Ukrainian writer Nikolai Gogol. The show, performed at Theatre 154, tells of a blacksmith seeking fancy shoes on Christmas Eve to win his lady love's heart, complicated by the Devil's arrival in town. The production combines 19th-century Ukrainian absurdist tone with modern sensibility and slapstick comedy. Actors of any ethnicity from all ends of the gender spectrum who sing and demonstrate strong comic skills are encouraged to apply.
