Translation House Looren, supported by Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia, Jan Michalski Foundation, and Max Geilinger Foundation, awards five excellence grants in 2027 for literary translators. Three grants are Looren Excellence Grants, one is the Regula Renschler Excellence Grant, and one is the Max Geilinger Excellence Grant. Applicants must be translating Swiss authors from any original language to any target language, with an active translation project under contract with a publisher. The manuscript delivery deadline must be after April 2027. Max Geilinger grant applicants must translate a Swiss author's work into English or translate an English-language work into German, French, Italian, or Romansh.
Literary translators of all nationalities who have published at least three books and are translating works by Swiss authors into any language.
Open to artists anywhere.
