What it is

The Contemporary Music Touring Program supports national touring activity undertaken by Australian musicians performing original Australian contemporary music. Tours must comprise performances in at least three venues or locations outside the performer's hometown. Tours including regional and remote destinations are prioritised. Eligible activities include headline tours, support tours, opening slots, festival or Biennale appearances, and commissioned performances. Funding amounts depend on the geographical reach: up to $15,000 for metropolitan-only tours, up to $25,000 for tours with at least one regional or remote performance, and up to $50,000 for tours with at least three confirmed remote or very remote locations.

What you get

Between $5,000 and $50,000 to support the costs of touring live music performances within Australia, depending on the number of regional or remote venues included.

What you need to apply

  • Online application form via Application Management System
  • Tour itinerary with at least three venues or locations outside performer's hometown
  • Project budget detailing all touring costs
  • Up to three URLs to written material, images, video or audio examples of recent work (10 pages written, 10 images, or 10 minutes audio/video maximum), 3 required
  • Brief biography or curriculum vitae summary of additional artists involved, maximum two pages total
  • Up to five letters of support from proposed participants, maximum five pages total, 5 required
  • Evidence of environmental impact plan if applicable
  • Evidence of compliance with First Nations Cultural and Intellectual Property Protocols if involving First Nations artists, communities or subject matter
