What it is

The Festival Internacional de Cine en Guadalajara 42nd edition invites submissions of feature films (minimum 60 minutes) and short films (maximum 30 minutes) completed between 2026 and 2027 that have their Mexican premiere during the festival. Competitive sections include: Mexican Feature Films (Mezcal Prize), Iberoamerican Fiction and Documentary Features, Maguey Prize for LGBTQ+ themed films, International Animation Features, Jalisco-made films, and Socio-environmental films. Short film sections include Iberoamerican shorts, international animation shorts (Rigo Mora Prize), and Jalisco-made shorts. Director attendance is mandatory for official competition participation. Selected documentary shorts are recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) for Oscar consideration.

Film producers and directors from Mexico, Iberoamerica and other regions of the world to submit films to competitive sections.

Open to artists in Mexico, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and others.

  • Final cut copy sent to programacion@ficg.mx with required exhibition materials in DCP and Blu-Ray formats (for selected films only)
  • Subtitles: Original Spanish films require English subtitles; original English films require Spanish subtitles; other languages require Spanish and English subtitles (for selected films only)
