South Porch Artists is a retreat space on an historic property in downtown Summerville, South Carolina offering up to six residents at a time comfortable lodgings and studio work space to pursue creative projects. Residents may stay 1, 2, 3 or 4 weeks and arrive and depart on Mondays. The residency welcomes artists, writers, scholars and clergy to create while immersed in the evocative setting of a small Southern town, half an hour from Charleston. Residents are encouraged to participate in public programming, open studios, artist talks, teaching and skill-shares. Housing is partially accessible; some meals are provided; shared kitchen access and various studios including music/media studio, painting workspace, and non-recording studios are available.
Working artists, scholars, arts administrators and clergy aged 21 or older at any stage of career in any discipline.
Open to artists anywhere.
