What it is

A nature-based retreat and residency program in a custom round treehouse on rare alluvial forest land in the Piedmont of North Carolina. The Respite operates on a solidarity scale model and welcomes individuals and small groups for rest, creative making, connection, grounding, and vision-setting. The land is co-habitated with the Jeffries soil sisters, farm partner member-owners of Handèwa Farms. Amenities include painting workspace, wood working table, washer and dryer. Pets and family members are welcome. Residencies are available through Spring, Summer, and Fall 2025.

Who it is for

Creative artists and healing practitioners, prioritizing queer, trans, nonbinary and/or Black, Indigenous, and cultural workers of color, taking time for rest, creative making, or resistance.
