What it is

An international art studio in Tetouan, Morocco offering self-directed, artist-funded residencies with shared or private studios, access to fully equipped common areas, and immersion in Moroccan culture. Residency fees range from 10,000 MAD for shared 3-week residencies to 29,000 MAD for private 6-week residencies. A 2,000 MAD non-refundable deposit is required upon acceptance.

Artists of all disciplines at any stage of career seeking a focused research and production residency in Morocco.

What you get

3 or 6 week artist-funded residency with shared or private studio space, common facilities, arrival/departure ground transportation, coffee and tea, laundry facilities, medina walking tour, artisan visit, weekly artist lunches, Moroccan Arabic lesson, networking and consultation, online promotion, basic translation, and open studios event. Travel, housing, most meals and supplies are not included.

  • Artist Statement
  • Portfolio with at least 5 files representing recent work (PDF, JPG, PNG, MP3 or MP4 accepted) or 1 file with 5 or more works embedded, 5 required
  • Headshot photo (1200x1200 pixels minimum)
  • Experience interacting with people of cultures different from your own and benefits/challenges of a residency in another culture, up to 2 words
  • Reasons for wanting to participate in a residency program in Morocco
  • Creative medium and area of practice
  • Project proposal describing how you would use your time at Green Olive Arts during your residency, up to 3 words
  • Studio needs including furniture, tools, materials and equipment required
  • Interest in sharing work or skills with local community through workshop, reading, Open Studios Night or exhibition, up to 1 words
  • How you learned about Green Olive Arts
  • Availability during the week for follow-up interview
