What it is

A photography competition asking photographers worldwide for a story of five to ten pictures about how water shapes our world and the people who depend on it. Submissions must address one of five themes: water and people, water and communities, water and planet, water and innovation, or water and challenges. The competition is part of the 2026 United Nations Water Conference hosted by the UAE and Senegal in Abu Dhabi from 8 to 10 December.

Photographers aged 18 and over from anywhere in the world.

What you get

First prize $10,000, second prize $8,000, third prize $5,000, paid within two months of announcement.

What you need to apply

  • Portfolio of 5 to 10 images as JPEG files, at least 5 MB each, minimum 2,000 pixels on longest edge at 300 dpi, with title and description
  • Original RAW or unedited file for each image
  • Model, property and copyright releases must be producible within seven days if requested
