What it is

Bicoastal Review is a quarterly journal of poetry, nonfiction, interviews, reviews, art, and occasional fiction. The journal publishes writing often about, but not limited to, the cultures of the U.S. East and West Coasts, with special interest in literature, art, politics, ecology, love, the body, feminism, and queer identity. The journal often addresses social issues including environmental destruction, the impact of digital media, immigrant histories, the traumas of modern life, and the politicization of gender and sexuality.

Who it is for

Poets, fiction writers, nonfiction writers, artists, and reviewers from around the world, with particular welcome to emerging poets, women, LGBTQIA+ writers, and writers from historically underrepresented backgrounds.

Open to artists anywhere.

  • Poetry: up to 5 poems in .doc or .docx format, separated by page (or more than 5 if haikus or very short poems), 5 required
  • Nonfiction: creative nonfiction, critical essays, reviews, interviews, or think pieces, up to 3000 words
  • Photography or art: up to 10 photos or works of art in highest image quality possible, with optional explanatory text about materials, process, theory, etc., 10 required
