What you get

A 12-month fellowship at the British Library from September 2027 to September 2028, including living expenses, return economy airfare, an allowance package for fellowship-related activities, and up to 1,000 GBP for approved project-related expenses.

What you need to apply

  • Curriculum vitae demonstrating five years of professional and/or academic research experience
  • Demonstration of clear intention to return to and contribute to country of citizenship, with commitment to remain there for at least one year after fellowship ends
  • Evidence of postgraduate level qualification or equivalent professional training or experience in relevant area
  • Proof of excellent knowledge of Coptic (Sahidic or Bohairic), with Arabic and/or Greek desirable
  • Evidence of experience cataloguing and handling manuscript collections with knowledge of manuscript description standards
  • Evidence of experience in provenance research and documentation or demonstrable interest in this area
  • Evidence of experience working with heritage communities or delivering engagement activities related to cultural heritage collections
