Sansusī Wellbeing Residency

What it is

A 60-day socially engaged contemporary art residency program operating since 2018 in Sēlija, Latvia. Artists work in collaboration with local social and healthcare institutions, including the Aknīste Health and Social Care Center and Aknīste Psychoneurological Clinic. The residency welcomes performing arts, music, visual arts, and interdisciplinary practitioners who will lead creative workshops and activities for elderly residents and healthcare clients, spending at least 8 hours per week engaging with target groups and presenting their work-in-progress at the end of the residency.

Who it is for

International artists from Creative Europe countries (other than Latvia) interested in socially engaged contemporary art practices working with community groups.

Open to artists in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands and others.

What you get

Free accommodation at the residency center, €30 daily allowance (€1,800 total), travel allowance of €400 or €800 depending on distance, curator and assistant support, access to shared workspaces including a 70 m² activity hall with piano and basic sound equipment, plus potential additional top-ups for green mobility, family, visa, or accessibility needs.
