What it is

A 12-month research fellowship at the British Library working on the collection of early printed works in Cambodian, Lao, and Thai languages from approximately 1840 to 1950. Fellows will provide metadata-style information in original scripts and Romanisation to create catalogue records, working closely with the Henry Ginsburg Curator and other colleagues in the Southeast Asia section and Conservation Centre.

  • Proof of postgraduate level qualification or equivalent professional training or experience in a relevant area
  • Evidence of at least five years of significant professional and/or academic research experience
  • Proof of current employment or PhD candidate enrollment (PhD must not be with a UK, EU or USA university)
  • Evidence of excellent written and spoken knowledge of Thai, Lao, and Khmer, or excellent knowledge of Thai together with either Lao or Khmer
  • Evidence of good written and spoken English
  • Research project proposal for the British Library collection of early printed works
