"Première" Concours

What it is

A competition and meeting place for young ensembles performing historical music, focusing on Spanish music from the Renaissance to early Romanticism. The 5th edition takes place in Brussels and is curated by Spanish cellist Víctor García García. Selection is based on three complementary criteria: artistic quality of musical performance, rigorous scientific approach including historical practice research, and rhetorical dimension through quality of communication with the public via an original oral presentation in French, Dutch or English. After video pre-selection, 5 winning groups are invited to perform in the final.

Who it is for

Small ensembles of young musicians performing music on historical instruments who can integrate artistic, scientific and rhetorical approaches.
