What it is

An artist residency aboard a sailboat (SV Hawa) that transits the US east coast, hosting up to two artists at a time. The residency includes living accommodations, full studio and workshop space, and opportunities for artistic creation and networking while the boat travels, with a scheduled stay in Baltimore from mid-July to mid-August.

Who it is for

Artists of any medium aged 21 or older from anywhere in the world who can physically reach a port and are able to climb ladders, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.

What you get

Private bedroom in shared or private housing aboard a boat, studio and workshop space, some meals provided, residency lasting 6 days to 2 months at $600 per week, $80 per day for stays under 7 days, or $1800 per month.

What you need to apply

• Website (preferred) or portfolio of 10-20 images, or up to 5 minutes of video or audio
• Brief statement of intent while aboard the vessel, and artist statement if not on website
• CV if not on website
• Indicate three preferred lengths of time available in order of preference
• Read, understand, and agree to 'Realities of Boat Life' on the application form and sign
• List any physical limitations
