What you get

A one-year exemption from the Department of Social Welfare's activation programme, allowing you to focus on artistic work while remaining on Jobseeker's Allowance.

What you need to apply

  • Certificate or declaration from a professional certifying organisation confirming professional artist status
  • Documents from Revenue showing at least 50% of previous year's income came from professional artistic work
  • Valid photo ID (Public Services Card, driving licence, passport, Irish residence permit, or National Identity Card)
  • Proof of address such as utility bill or letter from a government department
  • Evidence of income including bank statements
