European Festivals Fund for Emerging Artists (EFFEA)

What it is

EFFEA is an initiative of the European Festivals Association co-funded by the European Union. It supports around 50 residencies where festivals collaborate across borders to support emerging artists in developing their work and building international connections. Emerging artists are defined by their novelty to programmers and audiences and their potential for international breakthrough, not by age. Two formats are available: Discovery Festivals for early-stage artists with strong international potential, and Springboard Festivals for artists established in their own countries ready to develop internationally.

What you get

Grants of €8,000 (Discovery format, 40 awards) or €15,000 (Springboard format, 10 awards) to fund a residency bringing together at least three festivals from three countries around an emerging artist or group, including presentations, workshops or masterclasses, and a film.
