She/NYC Arts 2027 Festival

What it is

Open submissions for the 2027 She/NYC Arts Festivals across four cities. Full-length plays and musicals at least 75% finished are invited from gender-marginalized playwrights and composers. Selected shows will be produced in summer festival runs with two performances, technical support, and dramaturgical development. Applications are evaluated anonymously on script quality without bias regarding industry connections or representation.

Who it is for

Playwrights and composers who are from a gender-marginalized group (including cis women, trans people, and non-binary people), or writing teams that are at least 50% from a gender-marginalized group.

Open to artists anywhere.

What you get

Your play or musical will be produced with two performances, a tech and dress rehearsal, and possible additional performances if you sell out, in one of four cities (New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, or Dallas-Fort Worth) in summer 2027, with dramaturgical support varying by city.

• Full script in PDF form, at least 75% finished. If not complete, include a detailed treatment (outline of remaining scenes). Script must not have your name on it.
• Completed application form with basic information
• For musicals: recordings of at least 3 full songs in mp3 or m4a form, 3 required
• For solo shows: video of at least 5 minutes of the performer performing a cut from the show
• Describe if and how you used AI in creating your work
