Cryptic Nights supports emerging Scottish artists to develop existing projects that combine original sound or music with performance, installation, screen-based art or technology. The opportunity offers funding, mentoring, a residency with performance opportunity, professional documentation, and marketing support. Applications are welcome from artists at any career stage, including those changing direction or exploring new ways of working. The call particularly encourages applications from Black, Asian or ethnically diverse artists, D/deaf or disabled artists, women and gender expansive artists, LGBTQIA+ artists, artists with caring responsibilities, and working class or low-income background artists.
Emerging artists based in Scotland who work with original sound or music combined with performance, installation, screen-based art or technology, and who are not in full-time formal education.

£800 for solo artists or up to £2000 for groups, one mentoring session, up to two-day residency plus performance or presentation, professional photography and video documentation, marketing and PR support, travel and accommodation for artists outside Scotland's Central Belt, audience feedback pack, and free tickets to other Cryptic Nights events.
