What it is

The New York Art Residency & Studios (NARS) Foundation Artist Residency Program supports emerging and mid-career artists across all disciplines through residencies lasting from three months to one year. International artists may apply during bi-annual Open Calls or year-round using rolling application. Applications are reviewed and decisions sent within 3-4 weeks. The program creates a shared space for artistic dialogue and international cultural exchange. Applicants must be proficient in English and are responsible for securing their own visa, housing, living expenses, travel, materials, and health insurance.

Studio work space in New York for one, two, or four seasons (three months to twelve months), with housing not provided; program fees for 2027 one-season residencies range from $9,962 to $10,742 depending on studio size and type.

  • CV in Word or PDF format including date of birth, place of birth, citizenship, and professional and exhibition history
  • Residency Proposal / Goals describing proposed project, research, artistic activities, and/or goals for residency, up to 400 words
  • Artist Bio with concise biography describing artistic practice, background, and professional experience, up to 300 words
  • Up to 10 work samples as images, audio files, video files, or links to videos, 10 required
  • Work Sample Descriptions for each uploaded work including title, year, medium, and dimensions
  • Residency term preference and one alternative residency term/date selection
