What it is

Opera Sprouts Competition invites composer and librettist teams to create new opera for youth. Composers will write a 15-minute excerpt for up to four voices (SATB). Librettists will complete a libretto for a 45-minute opera in English. The winning team will receive mentorship and their work will tour BC schools in spring 2028. The program prioritises mentorship, process and collaborative relationships within a professional opera company setting.
