Annual prize for ten poems written by an African poet. Poems must be original, no longer than 40 lines each, written in English (translations accepted), and previously published or award-winning work is allowed. Shortlist announced in April, winner in May.
African poets who have not yet published a full-length poetry book (self-published works, chapbooks and pamphlets do not count as disqualifying).
Open to artists in Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi and others.
